India vs China Asia Cup Hockey: India started the Asian Cup hockey tournament with a win on Friday. The Indian hockey team defeated China 4-3 in the Pool A match thanks to captain Harmanpreet Singh’s three goals. Apart from Harmanpreet, Jugraj Singh also scored for India. Du Shihao (12′), Chen Benhai (35′) and Gao Zhisheng (42′) scored for China.
After trailing 0-1 after the first quarter, India scored two goals in two minutes to take a 2-1 lead at half-time. Harmanpreet scored from penalty corners in the 20th, 33rd and 47th minutes, while Jugraj Singh scored in the 18th minute.
Du Xinhao (12th minute), Chen Benhai (35th minute) and Gao Zhisheng (42nd minute) scored for China. After trailing by one goal in the first quarter, India scored two goals in two minutes in the second quarter to take a 2-1 lead at half-time.
Captain Harmanpreet scored the second goal in the third minute of the second half. China scored a goal in a counterattack just two minutes later. The two teams were level in the final quarter but Harmanpreet converted a penalty corner in the 47th minute to give India the win.
