4% reservation for Muslim contractors in Karnataka, BJP opposes

The Karnataka government has decided to give 4% reservation to Muslim contractors in government contracts. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has approved the proposal. A bill to amend the Transparency in Public Procurement Act will be brought in the assembly. The BJP has called it politics of appeasement. The opposition has raised the question of how reservation can be given on the basis of religion.
