Vigilance Bureau catches ASI red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (Vigilance Bureau) has arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Raghbir Singh, posted at Talwandi Sabo police station in Bathinda district, on Tuesday during the ongoing campaign against corruption in the state. A bribe of Rs. 10,000

Disclosing this information, the spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the above accused has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Sukhpreet Singh, a resident of village Singo of Talwandi Sabo block.

He said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged in his complaint that the said accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to favour the complainant in the police case registered against the said persons.

The spokesperson further said that after the initial investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap during which the accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses. 

He said that in this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Bathinda Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau. The accused will be produced in the honorable court tomorrow and further proceedings in this case are underway.
