India performed brilliantly at the Commonwealth Games 2026, winning a total of 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze medals. India finished fourth in the medal table. Although this figure appears lower than the 61 medals won at Birmingham 2022, this time only 10 sports were included in Glasgow, while 19 sports were organized in the previous games. Sports like badminton, wrestling, shooting, hockey and cricket were not part of the competitions this time.
Out of India’s total 39 medals, the biggest contribution was from boxing, where Indian boxers won 10 medals including 7 gold and 3 silver. Apart from this, India won 10 medals in athletics, 8 in weightlifting, 6 in para-athletics, 4 in judo and one in para-powerlifting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised the performance of Indian players and said that the hard work, dedication and determination of the players will be a source of inspiration for the youth of the country.
