Athletics Championships 2025: Neeraj Chopra was unable to defend his title at the World Athletics Championships. He finished eighth in the final in Tokyo. He was the defending champion. Neeraj was trying to defend his title here but failed. Neeraj had entered the final with his first throw in the qualifying round, but he lost his rhythm in the medal round and lost his title. India’s Sachin Yadav also finished fourth. Sachin measured a distance of 80.95 meters in his last throw, settling for fourth place. However, he achieved a new personal best of 86.27 meters.
Keshorn Walcott became the new world champion with a javelin throw of 88.16 meters. Anderson Peters finished second with 87.38 meters, while Curtis Thompson finished third with 86.67 meters.
Keshorn Walcott threw from a distance of 81.22 meters on his first attempt. He threw from a distance of 87.83 meters on his second attempt, 81.65 meters on his third attempt, 88.16 meters on his fourth attempt, 85.84 meters on his fifth attempt and 83 meters on his final attempt.
Meanwhile, India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra had a disappointing performance. Neeraj Chopra’s highest attempt in the final was 84.03 meters. He fouled in his last attempt.
