Hockey Asia Cup 2025: India beats Japan 3-2; India reaches Super 4 with second consecutive win

The Indian team has entered the Super 4 of the Asia Cup hockey tournament. The team defeated Japan 3-2 on Sunday. This victory took Team India to the number-1 position in the Pool A points table.

India took the lead through a goal by Mandeep Singh at the Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir. He scored a field goal in the third minute. Then in the fifth minute, captain Harmanpreet Singh scored from a penalty corner to put India ahead 2-0. That was the score line till half-time.

In the third quarter, Japan came back with a goal by Kawabe Kosei. Kosei played a backhand shot and pushed the ball inside the goal post. Just before the fourth quarter, Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh scored another penalty corner. This was Harmanpreet’s second goal and the Indian team’s third. Just before the final whistle, Japan’s Kawabe Kosei (58th minute) scored his own and his team’s second goal. However, he could not give his team the victory.
