US President Donald Trump has taken a major decision by announcing a 50 percent tariff on Brazil. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump took an aggressive stance on the global trade front and announced heavy tariffs on the first 7 countries. He had announced tariffs on Algeria, Iraq, Libya, Sri Lanka (30%), Brunei, Moldova (25%) and the Philippines (20%). These duties will be effective from August 1.
Trump has also criticized the ongoing case against former President Jair Bolsonaro. He has called it a witch hunt and an international disgrace. Trump has written a letter to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in this regard. He said that this case should be closed immediately. The US will investigate Brazil’s business activities.
