Air India Express has suspended a total of 8 crew members, including 4 pilots, associated with a flight from Dubai to Amritsar for three months. This action was taken for not conducting the mandatory breathalyzer test within the stipulated time after the flight on August 2. As per the rules, the crew was supposed to conduct the test within two hours after landing at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar. According to reports, the crew first went to the hotel and later returned to the airport, due to which there was a delay of 2 hours and 35 minutes in conducting the test. Although the breathalyzer tests of all 8 members came negative and no alcohol was found in anyone’s body, not following the stipulated time was considered a violation of the rules. The airline has also reported the matter to the DGCA and all the members have been removed from duty. This action reflects the strictness of the rules related to air safety.
