First flight starts from Halwara Airport, Ludhiana-Delhi air service makes people’s dream come true

The long-awaited dream of air travel from Halwara International Airport came true today, when the first flight landed at the airport at 7:05 am. After this, the flight from Ludhiana to Delhi departed at 7:55 am. Ravneet Singh Bittu reached Ludhiana from Delhi on an Air India flight with about 60 passengers. Air India will operate two flights daily on the Halwara-Delhi route and the journey will be completed in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. According to the airport authority, it will be mandatory for passengers to reach at least 90 minutes before the flight. With the opening of Halwara Airport, Sahnewal Airport will now be closed and all the staff has been deployed at the new airport. Delhi-Ludhiana economy class fare will be between Rs 4,000 and Rs 5,000. This project was inaugurated virtually by Narendra Modi on February 1, 2026. Bhagwant Mann, Ram Mohan Naidu and Rajya Sabha member Rajinder Gupta were also present on the occasion.
