India have defeated South Africa by 101 runs in the first T20 match of the 5-match T20 series to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The second T20 match will be played in Chandigarh on December 11.
South Africa elected to bowl at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday. Hardik Pandya’s half-century helped India post 175 for 6. In reply, the visitors were all out for 74. Hardik scored 59 off 28 balls. Tilak Verma scored 26 and Axar Patel scored 23. For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi took 3 wickets and Lutho Sipamala took 2 wickets.
In reply, Dewald Brevis top-scored with 22 runs. 7 players could not even reach 10 runs. For India, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel took 2 wickets each. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube took 1 wicket each.
Bumrah also completed his 100 wickets in T20 Internationals. Hardik also completed 100 sixes, taking his bowling tally to 99. He was adjudged Player of the Match.
