Mohali, August 5, 2025 — Dr. BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali, is set to mark **World Breastfeeding Week 2025** with a day-long program themed **“Unite for the Good”**, featuring a high-level stakeholder meeting and formal assessment by Dr. Rajinder Gulati for accreditation as a Breastfeeding-Friendly Hospital under the WHO/BPNI framework.
This year’s global themes — “Invest in Breastfeeding, Invest in the Future”* (WHO) and “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems”(WABA) — form the cornerstone of the event, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen health systems and community support for optimal infant nutrition.
The program will be inaugurated by Director Principal Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, who will deliver the keynote address on integrating breastfeeding promotion into institutional practices and public health frameworks, in alignment with WHO’s vision of *“Healthy Beginnings for a Healthy Future.”**
The event also features a joint initiative with **Rotary Club Chandigarh**, led by **President Abha Sharma**, supporting the **Ashneer Milk Bank and CLMC**, and actively pursuing a **Global Grant** to expand awareness, donor milk collection, and a **hub-and-spoke model** for lactation support across the region.
Senior faculty members including Dr. Sushmita (Obstetrics), Dr. Amrit (Community Medicine), Dr. Anuradha (ICMR Project Lead) Dr. Manvi, and Dr. Jasmine & Nodal officer Ms Poonam Kumari will share collaborative strategies for embedding breastfeeding-friendly practices in both hospital and community settings.
The celebration is a testament to how civil society, academia, and healthcare institutions can come together to give every child a healthy start and a healthier future.
