Advisory issued to Diljit Dosanjh not to sing Patiala Peg and some other songs during show in Chandigarh
Chandigarh,12 dec 2027
Instructions have been issued regarding Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s show to be held in Chandigarh on December 14. Based on the representation filed by Panditrao Dharenwar, Chandigarh Child Rights Protection Commission Chairperson Shipra Bansal, an advisory has been issued to the organizers and singer Diljit Dosanjh not to sing songs with Patiala Peg, 5 Tara Theke and Kesh Tod-Marod Ke.
CCPCR has clearly mentioned that these songs affect children of impressionable age. The advisory clearly mentions not inviting children on stage during live shows where the peak sound pressure level is above 120db which is harmful for children. In the advisory, CCPCR has asked the organizers to ensure that alcohol is not served to the youth below the age of 25 which is punishable under the JJ Act and other provisions of the law.
Earlier in November, Panditrao, an assistant professor of sociology in Chandigarh, had filed a complaint against singer Diljit Dosanjh, on which the District Child Welfare Officer, Telangana had also issued a notice not to use children on stage and not to sing songs that promote alcohol, drugs and violence. Singer Diljit Dosanjh complied with the notice and did not use children on stage. However, he twisted the words and sang the songs Patiala Peg, 5 Tara Theke and Kes. Panditrao had also filed a complaint against Karan Aujla for not singing Chitta Kurta, Adhia, Sharab, Badhuk and Tho Din. Karan Aujla had not sung these songs on December 7, 2024. Panditrao has said that he is confident that singer Diljit Dosanjh will follow the advice in the greater interest of children.
