The Pakistani government has not trusted its local police and rangers to ensure security for the SCO summit to be held in Islamabad. In view of security, the Pakistan Army has been deployed in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. On the instructions of the army, wedding halls, cafes, restaurants and snooker clubs in these areas have been ordered to remain closed from 12 to 16 October.

The SCO summit will be held in Islamabad on October 16 and 17 under the chairmanship of Pakistan, in which various heads of state including the Indian Foreign Minister and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang will participate. Due to the terrorist incidents in Pakistan in the last one month and the demonstrations carried out by the party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the central government has lost confidence in the local police and other forces. Therefore, 10,000 soldiers and commandos of the Pakistan Army have been deployed in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
