The Indian team had given Bangladesh a target of 515 runs to win this match, but the Bangladesh batsmen had no answer to Ravichandran Ashwin’s spin and the visiting team was reduced to 234 runs in the second innings and lost the match by a huge margin of 280 runs. Ashwin, who had pulled India out of a difficult situation by scoring a century in the first innings, was given the Man of the Match award. With this victory, the Indian team has achieved a historic feat, which only a few teams have been able to achieve before.

The Indian team has played 580 Tests in its 92 years of Test history, out of which it has won 179 while it had to face defeat in 178 matches. During this period, the Indian team was successful in drawing 222 matches, while one match ended in a tie.
