HEALTH DEPARTMENT URGES FOOD BUSINESS OPERATORS TO GET REGISTERED WITH DEPARTMENT OR FACE ACTION

Ludhiana, July 23: Designated Officer cum District Health Officer Dr Rajesh Garg have appealed to all food business operators such as in retail, wholesale, manufacturing etc to get themselves registered with the department or take food safety license. He said that this license/registration can be done online by simply visiting the website, www.foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in and the fee can be submitted through government website www.ifmspunjab.gov.in or through Razorpay.

He said that the food business operators whose annual turnover is less than Rs 12 lakh, they have to get themselves registered and their annual government fee is just Rs 100. The food business operators whose annual turnover is more than Rs 12 lakh need to have a license, whose fee is Rs 2000 annually and the annual government fee for manufacturing unit is Rs 3000.

He said that the hotels, restaurants and bakeries etc need to maintain proper hygiene at their place, else strict action would be taken against them. He said that the employees should maintain proper hygiene, wear masks, maintain physical distancing etc.

He informed that in June 2020, the Food Safety Team Ludhiana has taken 79 samples of eatables, out of which two samples of desi ghee failed while 6-7 samples were sub-standard. He informed that for the month of July 2020, they have taken 70 samples of eatables from bakeries, kiryana, departmental stores, milk and milk products, sweet meat shop owners, liquor etc from different parts of the district that have been sent to lab for testing.

He urged all food business operators that in view of Covid 19 pandemic, they should follow all directions of Punjab government and make Mission Fateh successful.
