The medal drought in Indian shooting has finally come to an end. Young Indian shooter Isha Singh clinched a silver medal in the women’s 25m individual event with a brilliant performance. In this event, India’s Manu Bhaker and Rani Sarnobat could not qualify for the final, due to which all hopes were pinned on Isha Singh. Isha lived up to these expectations and showed a strong performance in the final. Isha finished 8th in the qualification round, while Manu Bhaker finished 11th and Rani Sarnobat finished 30th. The final saw a tough competition between the top eight shooters. Isha maintained her position strong in the initial four rounds, although after this, her position was affected due to some mistakes in her shots. Despite this, she did not lose courage and made a brilliant comeback to secure her place in the top three shooters. A shoot-off was held between Isha and the South Korean shooter for the silver medal, where the Indian athlete performed brilliantly and won the silver medal. After this, she faced the Chinese shooter for the gold medal. The competition was very exciting and after the last round ended in a draw, a shoot-off was also held for the gold medal. A miss in the last shoot-off proved to be detrimental for Isha and she missed out on the gold medal. However, by winning the silver medal, she added another important medal to India’s account. Meanwhile, India’s Pinky Balhara also won the bronze medal in the women’s 78 kg under-19 kurash competition. Pinky had to settle for bronze after losing 0-5 to South Korea’s Sumin Mo in the semifinals. This is Pinky Balhara’s second medal at the Asian Games. She had earlier won a silver medal in the women’s under 52 kg weight category at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
