India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu has created history by winning the Japan Open Super 750 tournament title played in Tokyo. Former world champion Sindhu defeated world number three Japanese player Akane Yamaguchi in straight games 21-17, 21-17 in the final. With this victory, she became the first Indian woman to win the Japan Open Super 750 title. Also, Sindhu sent a message of a grand comeback by winning the title after almost 19 months.
Sindhu was initially behind in the final match, but she put up a brilliant performance and took complete control of the match and defeated Yamaguchi in both the games in a row. This is the first Super 750 series title of her career and with this victory her record against Yamaguchi increased to 16-14. Earlier, Sindhu had defeated Chen Yufei in the semi-finals to make it to the final. On this historic success, many prominent personalities including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan congratulated her. This victory is being considered as another major achievement in Sindhu’s illustrious career.
