The US carried out seven airstrikes on the Venezuelan capital Caracas on Saturday night. The explosions occurred mainly near Venezuela’s main military base ‘Fortuna’. Immediately after the attack, the entire city lost power and smoke was seen in the sky. Hearing the sound of explosions, people in many areas of the city came out of their homes and took to the streets.
Following the attack, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro issued a statement saying that the US strikes targeted civilian and military bases in four cities, including the city of Caracas, as well as in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. Given the seriousness of the attacks, President Maduro immediately declared a nationwide state of emergency and ordered the military to be on high alert.
US President Donald Trump said his country has successfully carried out a large-scale operation against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro. President Nicolas Maduro and his wife have been captured and taken out of the country. This operation was carried out in cooperation with US law enforcement agencies.
