India entered the final of the Sultan of Johor Cup junior men’s hockey tournament here on Friday after defeating hosts Malaysia 2-1 in their final group match. India converted two penalty corners through Gurjot Singh (22nd minute) and Saurabh Anand Kushwaha (48th minute) to seal the win and set up a final against Australia on Saturday. Malaysia’s goal was scored by Naveenesh Panicker in the 43rd minute. This was India’s record eighth final out of 12 matches in the Sultan of Johor Cup. Both teams were slow in the beginning as they found it difficult to cope with the wet conditions after the match started late due to rain. Initially, India tried to put Malaysia on their guard through long aerial balls but the move did not yield much.
