Russia has once again carried out a major airstrike on Ukraine. A passenger train has been targeted in the Russian strikes. The governor of the northern region of Sumy, Oleh Harihurov, said that the Russian attack targeted a railway station and a train heading to Kiev. The train has been severely damaged. According to media reports, the governor Oleh said that about 30 people have died in the attack and many more have been injured. Harihurov shared a photo of a burning train on social media and said that relief and rescue teams have arrived at the scene.
The attack is said to be part of a Russian airstrike campaign that has been targeting Ukraine’s railway infrastructure for the past two months. Russia has been attacking Ukraine’s transport network almost daily. A day earlier, Russia had fired 35 missiles and 60 drones at the facilities of Ukraine’s state-owned gas and oil company, Naftogaz. The attacks took place in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
