The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (Vigilance Bureau) has arrested a private security guard, Narinder Kumar, posted at Civil Hospital Jalandhar, and a resident of village Chak Sadhu Wala in Hoshiarpur district, during its drive against corruption in the state. A bribe of Rs. 10,000 was taken in the name of a PCMS doctor.
Disclosing this information, an official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that this case has been registered against the above accused on the basis of a complaint filed by Lokesh, a resident of Mallanwala Khas, District Ferozepur, at the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
He further said that the complainant had stated in his complaint that he had approached an orthopedic specialist in the office of the Civil Surgeon Jalandhar to issue a disability certificate for his relative but could not get the disability status to purchase an e-tricycle. Thereafter, the said accused, who was posted as a security guard by the said doctor outside his office, demanded Rs. 10000 to get the disability certificate. The complainant has recorded the conversation with the accused on the phone and submitted it to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.
The spokesperson further said that the allegations made in this complaint have been found to be true and correct during the investigation as they have been supported by the oral evidence as well as the recording of the conversation. On the basis of this investigation report, a case has been registered against the said accused Narinder Kumar at the Jalandhar Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He said that he will be produced in the appropriate court tomorrow and further investigation of this matter is going on.
