A major change has been made in the Indian team ahead of the two-Test series between India and Sri Lanka starting from August 15, 2026. Left-handed batsman Sai Sudarshan has been ruled out of the series due to injury and fast bowler Sarfaraz Khan has been included in the team in his place. Sai Sudarshan is currently recovering from an injury to his right toe at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Although his health is improving, his condition is being monitored continuously by the medical team. On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan, who has consistently performed brilliantly in domestic cricket, has once again got a chance in the Indian Test team. Sarfaraz is returning to Team India after almost 23 months. He played his last Test match against New Zealand on November 1, 2024. After this, he remained out of the team, but his bat continued to speak in domestic cricket, due to which he has now been recalled to the team for the Test series against Sri Lanka. He will soon join the Indian team in Colombo and after this the team will leave for Galle for the first Test. The first Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. This series is also very important from the point of view of the World Test Championship. The updated Indian team includes Shubman Gill as captain, KL Rahul as vice-captain, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj, Vyasa Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, Saransh Jain, Aaqib Nabi and Sarfaraz Khan.
