India’s javelin throwers performed brilliantly on the ninth day of the 2026 Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow, Scotland, winning two medals. Star athlete Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal with a brilliant throw of 85.83 meters, while Yashvir Singh won the bronze medal by throwing the javelin from a distance of 85.41 meters in his last attempt. The gold medal in this event was won by Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage with a throw of 89.75 meters.
In the final event, Neeraj Chopra, in his second attempt, briefly took the first position, putting up a season-best performance, but he could not reach the gold medal. On the other hand, Yashvir Singh made a brilliant comeback in the last round, jumping straight from sixth to third place and winning the bronze medal. This was also the personal best performance of Yashvir Singh’s career. India’s Rohit Yadav finished seventh with a throw of 81.56 meters.
