A new example of education in the country, Mizoram becomes the first fully literate state, achieving 98% literacy rate

Mizoram has achieved a historic achievement in the field of education. Mizoram has become the first state in the country to be declared a fully literate state. Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced this on Tuesday during a special function organized at Mizoram University (MZU). Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary was also present on the occasion. In the last 14 years, Mizoram’s literacy rate has increased from 91.33 percent to 98.2 percent.

What did Chief Minister Lalduhoma say?

Chief Minister Lalduhoma said that while celebrating this achievement, we reiterate our commitment to maintain literacy through continuous education, digital outreach and vocational skills education. Now we have to move forward towards digital literacy, financial literacy and entrepreneurship training so that all people of the Mizo community can become empowered.

What did Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary say?

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary congratulated Chief Minister Lalduhoma and the people of the state for this achievement. He said that it gives me a sense of pride to declare Mizoram as the first fully literate state of the country under the “Nav Bharat Literacy Programme”.
