Two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra began his 2025 season with a victory at the Potchefstroom Invitational tournament in South Africa on Wednesday, April 16. Indian javelin star Neeraj topped a field of six men to win the gold medal in the Potchefstroom Invitational track event.
Neeraj Chopra had the best throw of 84.52 metres. He finished ahead of 25-year-old South African javelin thrower Duway Smith. Neeraj looked in good form in his first few competitive throws of the 2025 campaign.
In the men’s javelin final on Wednesday, only Neeraj and Du could cross the 80-meter mark. While Neeraj’s throw was short of his personal best of 89.94 meters, Du Smith came close to his personal record of 83.29 meters.
