Dhananjay Munde, a minister in the Maharashtra government and leader of Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has resigned from his post, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed.

Dhananjay Munde’s PA Prashant Joshi reached the official residence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and handed over Munde’s resignation to him. Fadnavis said that Munde has sent me his resignation. I have accepted it and sent it to the Governor. In fact, Dhananjay Munde, who was a minister in the Mahayuti government of Maharashtra, was embroiled in controversies in the Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case. In its own chargesheet, the SIT had named Munde’s close aide Valmik Karad as the mastermind of the murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, who had opposed extortion in Beed district. Earlier, Devendra Fadnavis had written a letter to Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel saying that Dhananjay Munde will have to resign from the ministerial post. Dhananjay Munde’s close aide Valmik Karad and six of his associates were arrested by the Maharashtra Police in January this year under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999).
