First action in the case of Indians deported from America, licenses of 40 travel agents in Amritsar cancelled

The Punjab government is continuously taking action in the case of Indian citizens deported from the US and arriving in India. On Monday, the Amritsar administration took major action against travel agents in this case. Action has been taken against 40 travel agents of Amritsar and their licenses have been cancelled. 

A few days ago, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab Police had taken a major action against an illegal immigration network that was duping innocent people. The action was related to Indian nationals who were deported from the US and sent to Amritsar. The Punjab Police has recorded the statements of the victims, who have said that some travel agents duped them by falsely promising them to enter the US illegally. Based on these complaints, the police registered a total of 8 FIRs, out of which 2 FIRs were registered with the district police and 6 with the Punjab Police’s NRI Affairs Wing.
