A retired principal Dr Vijay Asdhir who has also been an alumnus and senior teacher at SCD Govt. The book bank which is a third of its kind has been inaugurated by Mr Ranjodh Singh who himself is a famed writer, a fine art photographer, an industrialist also looking after Ramgarhia Education Council. Dr Asdhir says his inspiration is Principal Parmjit Singh Grewal, also a former teacher colleague of his who started such a book bank near his house earlier. Books are given with the maxim “Borrow-Read-Return”. Ranjodh Singh gifted some books and also appreciated efforts of other members of the Park Committee which are P S Sekhon, Panesar Sahib, T S Sohi, Col A M Singh, Kewal Singh Saini and T S Chadha besides many other book lovers of the area.

While congratulating teachers initiative to promote book reading, Brij Bhushan Goyal, the organizing secretary of SCD Govt College Ludhiana Alumni Association in his message shared a famous quote of his teacher Prof B S Grewal: “A Library Is an ever-blossoming garden from where the seekers of knowledge gather the honeyed sweetness of life.”
