India vs England, 12 feb 2025

In the third and final ODI played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, Team Rohit defeated England by a huge margin of 142 runs to whitewash the three-match series 3-0. Earlier, India had also defeated England in the T20 series 4-1. In fact, the target of 357 runs given by Team India in the last match of the series had a very deep psychological impact on the England batsmen. And this effect was clearly visible on their batting. None of the top five batsmen of their team could even score a half-century. Tom Bantam (38) and Gus Atkins (38) were the highest run-scorers for the visiting team. The run average and pressure kept increasing and the English batsmen kept losing wickets at regular intervals. And the entire England team was all out for 214 runs after losing all their wickets in 34.2 overs. For India, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya took two wickets each, while Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav got one wicket each.

After being asked to bat first in the third and final match against England, Team Rohit has set the visitors a target of 357 runs to win. However, India got off to a poor start as skipper Rohit (1), who had scored a century in the previous match, was out in the second over, but from here, vice-captain Shubman Gill (112 runs, 102 balls, 14 fours, 3 sixes) took charge at one end and scored his seventh career century, while at the other end, former captain Virat Kohli (52 runs, 55 balls, 7 fours, 1 six) was in his old form after a long time. The two shared a 114-run partnership for the second wicket. When Virat got out, the pace set by him was taken to a higher level by Shreyas Iyer (78 runs, 64 balls, 8 fours, 2 sixes). The impact of these batsmen was that the Indian team managed to set a target of 357 runs for England after losing all their wickets in the quota of 50 overs. Adil Rashid took the most wickets with four.

Earlier, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bowl first in the third ODI against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Team India made three changes in the match. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested, while Varun Chakravarthy is injured. In such a situation, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh have been given a chance in the team.
