Travel will be comfortable in the new year, 83 BS-6 new buses will join the fleet of PRTC

New buses will be added to the fleet of Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC). Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that 83 new BS-6 compliant general buses will be added to the fleet of PRTC. These buses will be rented for six years under the kilometer scheme. Similarly, 20 Super Integral BS-6 compliant buses and 19 HVAC buses are also being rented by Roadways, Punbus under the kilometer scheme.
He said that from January to December 2024, women of the state travelled in 14.88 crore free buses across Punjab, on which the department has spent Rs 726.19 crore. The state government has provided 40.45 crore free bus rides to women from April 1, 2022 till now at a cost of Rs 1916.92 crore.
