The Vigilance Bureau arrested the SHO red-handed by taking a bribe of 50 thousand

During the anti-corruption campaign by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, the SHO of Phagwara City Police Station of District Kapurthala. Inspector Jitinder Kumar and his accomplice Jaskaran Singh alias Jassa resident of village Burj Hamira, district Moga have been caught red-handed by taking a bribe of Rs.50,000.
According to the information, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that these arrests have been made on the basis of the complaint lodged by Kulwinder Kaur, a resident of village Chachoki, Phagwara. Sharing more details, he said that Kulwinder Kaur had approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said policemen had detained her son Harshdeep, his wife Ashima and brother-in-law Ansh Sharma at Phagwara in the month of March. While eating in a hotel. A case was registered against his son under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS) in the said police station. After this, the said police officer did not involve Harshdeep’s wife and brother-in-law in this case. Demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 in return for doing so. The case and the complainant gave this bribe under duress. He further alleged that Inspector Jitinder Kumar later demanded Rs 50,000 more in return for recovering Harshdeep’s mobile phone, gold ring from the evidence in the case.
The complainant paid the bribe amount. The complainant further alleged that the said inspector repeatedly contacted him and asked him to pay bills totaling Rs.35,000-40,000 for the plants and pots purchased from Tara Nursery and the complainant paid the amount. Further, the inspector demanded Rs one lakh from the complainant in return for filing a challan in court in favor of his son and supporting him in the trial and evidence. The deal was fixed at Rs 50,000. The complainant recorded it and submitted it to the Bureau as evidence.
The spokesperson further said that after the preliminary investigation of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and arrested Inspector Jatinder Kumar and his partner Jaskaran Singh red-handed after accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. 50,000 rupees from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.
