Govt to carry out month-long anti-dust drive from Oct 7

Delhi govt to run an anti-dust campaign from Oct 7 to Nov 7 as part of its winter action plan, said environment minister Gopal Rai on Saturday. A fine of up to Rs 2 lakh can be imposed for violating dust norms.
A total of 523 teams from 13 departments have been mobilised to monitor dust control efforts across the city. “These teams will work 24 hours a day to monitor and prevent incidents of dust pollution in Delhi,” said Rai. The minister said it is mandatory to implement the 14 rules issued regarding construction on all sites. For not registering on the C&D portal, a fine of Rs 1 lakh will be imposed on construction projects with an area of less than 20,000 square metres and Rs 2 lakh on projects with an area of more than 20,000 square metres. However, for not taking dust mitigation measures at construction sites, a fine of Rs 7,500 per day will be imposed on construction projects with an area of less than 500 square metres and Rs 15,000 per day on construction projects with an area of more than that.ਐਂਟੀ ਸਮੋਗ ਗੰਨ ਨਾ ਲਗਾਉਣ ‘ਤੇ 7500 ਰੁਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਦਿਨ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਉਸਾਰੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਢੱਕਣਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ; ਜੇਕਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ 7,500 ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
