20 STATE TEAMS TO PARTICIPATE IN TOURNAMENT: GREWAL

Guru Har Sahai, 18 June:
The 9th National Gatka Championship which was postponed in the last year due to Covid-19 pandemic, is now scheduled to be held at Guru Harsahai this year. In this regard, Gatka Association Punjab President Harbir Singh Duggal and renowned social worker Atamjit Singh David met Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi and discussed to organise the National Gatka Tournament whereby Sports Minister has accorded his approval for organizing this national event on 7 August 2021. Duggal said the arrangements for this mega event would be in place and boarding-lodging and meals be provided free to the players.

Furthermore, the President of National Gatka Association of India Harjeet Singh Grewal State Awardee said the teams from 20 states would take part in this National Gatka event and about 400 players (boys and girls) and 60 team managers and officials would be involved in this tournament. In addition, he added that India team would also be selected from this tournament which would represent Indian in Asian Gatka Games next year.
