In an important administrative decision, the Bihar government has appointed former IPS officer Shobha Ohatkar as the new Chairperson of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). Shobha Ohatkar, a 1990 batch IPS officer, retired from the post of Director General and Commander General of Home Guard and Fire Service on June 30. The government has entrusted her with this new responsibility shortly after her retirement. Along with this, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary has been relieved of the additional charge of Chairman of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission.
Born in Pune district of Maharashtra, Shobha Ohatkar completed her MA in Political Science from Hyderabad and later joined the Indian Police Service after qualifying the UPSC examination. During her long administrative career, she played a key role in many important projects related to law and order in several districts of Bihar, as well as modernisation of the Fire Service and Home Guard. Known for her strong and effective administrative style, Shobha Ohatkar will now take charge of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission until further orders of the government.
