Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warmly congratulated Andy Burnham on taking over as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) and expressed hope to further strengthen the ties between the two countries. In his message on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said that India and the United Kingdom are connected by shared democratic values, mutual trust and long-standing partnership. He said that cooperation between the two countries is continuously growing in many areas such as trade, investment, technology, defence, education and people-to-people contacts. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the CETA agreement that came into force this month will further strengthen the economic and trade relations between India and the UK and both countries will move forward towards new opportunities. He also said that he is excited to work with Andy Burnham to further deepen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and make the shared Vision 2035 a success. It is worth noting that Labour Party leader Andy Burnham took office as the new Prime Minister of Britain on Monday, which is expected to mark the beginning of a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.
