In view of the severe heat and heatwaves occurring around the world, the Dubai government has announced the implementation of a 4-day working week and flexible duty system, giving great relief to its government employees. This special campaign named ‘Our Flexible Summer’ will be in effect from June 29 to September 10. Under this, eligible employees will get the opportunity to choose from two different working systems. According to the first model, employees will work 8 hours a day from Monday to Thursday and will be able to take advantage of three consecutive days of leave including Friday. In the second model, employees will work 7-7 hours from Monday to Thursday and will have only four and a half hours of duty on Friday. Apart from this, government departments have also been given the right to allow employees to work from home as needed, so that government services are not affected. The Dubai government believes that improving the health, mental well-being and work-life balance of employees will further improve their performance and productivity. This initiative will not only provide relief from the heat for employees, but is also considered an important step towards making Dubai one of the best workplaces for employees.
