In a major action in the notorious CREST scam of Rs 75 crore, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Navneet Srivastava, a 2014 batch IFS officer of the Chandigarh Administration. This arrest has intensified the discussion in the administrative and political circles. The CBI has already filed a chargesheet in the special court in this case, in which 13 accused have been named. According to the investigation, with the alleged connivance of bank officials, government employees and private individuals, government funds deposited in the CREST accounts were manipulated and crores of rupees were embezzled by transferring them to different bank accounts. The CBI is investigating the matter in depth and more revelations are being expressed.
