ਓਂਟਾਰੀਓ, ( ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ) 24 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ – ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਓਂਟਾਰੀਓ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸੜਕੀ ਹਾਦਸਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਡਰਾਇਵਰ ਲਾਇਸੈਂਸ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਨਿਯਮ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਸੈਲਾਨੀ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ (ਟੂਰਿਸਟ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ) ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਆਏ ਲੋਕ ਹੁਣ ਓਂਟਾਰੀਓ ਸੂਬੇ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਾਇਵਰ ਲਾਇਸੈਂਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਸਕਣਗੇ।
ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਟਰਾਂਸਪੋਰਟ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ. ਪ੍ਰਭਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਕਾਰੀਆ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਮੰਗ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਿੱਲ ਅੱਜ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਏਗਾ।
ਸ. ਪ੍ਰਭਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਕਾਰੀਆ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਿਰਫ ਕੈਨੇਡੀਅਨ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ, ਪੱਕੇ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਰਕ ਪਰਮਿੱਟ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰਾਇਵਿੰਗ ਲਾਇਸੈਂਸ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਨਿਯਮ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਹਨ।
Supposed to be done few years ago, but still its a good step by MPP Amarjot Sandhu who is finally bringing private member bill in the Parliament of Ontario . Residents of Ontario were asking them to bring this bill 6-7 years ago, they wrote emails to PC party of Ontario MPP’s including current Minister of transportation of Ontario MPP Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria . lets see are they going to pass this bill or no. what is your pov ? PC party of Ontario MPP Amarjot Sandhu brings private members motion to call the Ministry of Transportation to add a 1 year waiting period after obtaining a Class G license before drivers can test for their commercial license has been added in the ministry bill.
In addition to that Ministry has also added following changes in the bill:
🔘 Visa & work permit verification for all applicants
🚫 Visitors can no longer obtain a commercial driver’s licence
⛔️ Ending automatic foreign licence recognition from non-reciprocal countries
