The Nobel Prize in Economics will be announced today in the Swedish capital Stockholm. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will announce the award at 3:15 pm. The award is given to economists whose research has made a significant contribution to understanding the economy and solving its problems.
The winner will receive 11 million Swedish kronor (Rs. 10.3 crore), a gold medal and a certificate. If more than one economist wins, the prize money will be divided among them. The awards will be presented in Stockholm on December 10.
