In the Asian Games 2026, India made the country proud by winning gold medals in both the women’s and men’s Kabaddi events. First, the women’s Kabaddi team defeated the Iranian team in the final match by a margin of 37-34 and won the gold medal. During this match, a tough competition was witnessed between the two teams and Iran tried to come back several times, but in the last moments, the Indian players maintained their lead by playing a strong defense.
After this, the men’s kabaddi team also performed brilliantly and won the second gold medal by defeating Iran 40-34. Iran was leading 18-17 by the end of the first half of the match and kept the pressure on India at the beginning of the second half as well, but the Indian team gradually turned the tide of the game in its favor. Sumit strengthened the team by making important tackles in defense, while Arjun Deshwal scored consecutive points in raiding. After a 21-21 tie, India started increasing its lead and finally won the gold medal by registering a 40-34 victory. With this victory, the men’s team maintained the record of winning a medal for the 10th consecutive time in the Asian Games, while the women’s team also won a medal in the fifth consecutive Asiad. Apart from Kabaddi, India also had a memorable day in Squash as 18-year-old Anahat Singh made it to the finals of the women’s singles and Abhay Singh made it to the finals of the men’s singles. This is the first time that two Indian players have reached the finals of the singles category at the Asian Games. Thus, two gold medals in Kabaddi and a historic performance in Squash made it a memorable day for the Indian sports world.
