Department of Sciences, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a workshop “STEM & STRINGS” ON 29th May, 2025 for the students of Science Stream. The workshop highlighted various themes like Health Management, Tie-Dye, Macrame Art and Physics in Daily Life. An informative lecture on “Health and Harmony” was delivered by Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Department of Zoology. The session aimed to promote awareness among students about basic health monitoring and the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle by educating students about how to calculate BMI and proper usage of BP apparatus. The Department of Physics showcased various physics phenomena in daily life like change in current with light intensity, how to see gravitational effects, moment of inertia laws used in driving skills. The Department of Chemistry organized a hands-on workshop titled “Tie Dye: Fabric Fusion” aimed at blending Science with Creativity. Ms. Yukti Khurana, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town was the resource person for the workshop. The workshop was focussed on the chemical principles behind the traditional art of Tie and Dye, including the interaction of dyes with Natural and Synthetic fabrics. Students gained practical experience in preparing dyes, applying different dying techniques and producing their own vibrant fabric designs. The Department of Mathematics organized a creative and engaging macramé workshop- a form of textile making using knotting techniques to foster creativity alongside analytical thinking. By the end of the workshop, each student successfully created their own macramé keychain, which they proudly took home as keepsake of their learning experience. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal applauded the efforts of the organizing team and distributed certificates to all the participants.
