The Central Board of Direct Taxes said on Tuesday that this date has been extended by one and a half months. That is, now you can file the returns till 15 September 2025.

The last date for filing returns for general category taxpayers is usually July 31. Apart from salaried earners, these also include those whose accounts do not require auditing. Now they will be able to file returns till September 15, 2025. Filing returns after this date will attract a penalty of up to Rs 5000.
