Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution to India’s Development is unforgettable: Balbir Singh Sidhu

Former Punjab Health Minister and senior Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu paid tribute to Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his 34th death anniversary at his office in Mohali.
Speaking on the tribute ceremony, Sidhu said, “The work done by Shri Rajiv Gandhi ji for the country will always be remembered. His contribution to India’s development is unforgettable.”
He further said, “At the age of 40, he became India’s youngest Prime Minister. Despite his young age, he had a forward-looking vision and a deep commitment to eradicating corruption.”
Sidhu highlighted Rajiv Gandhi’s role in laying the foundation for India’s modern digital infrastructure, stating, “It was his vision that initiated the IT revolution in India, which has since been carried forward by Shri Rahul Gandhi ji. Today, we thank that revolution, due to which lacs of youth are employed and government services have become more accessible.”
He also credited Rajiv Gandhi for the launch of Maruti cars in India, saying, “It was due to his foresight and policies that car ownership became a reality for the common Indian. If today most households have a car, it’s because of the path he paved.”
Sidhu added, “The Congress party will always miss Shri Rajiv Gandhi ji, but we are committed to realizing his vision and taking the party to new heights.”
A large number of Congress leaders and workers were present at the tribute ceremony, including former Chairman of Market Committee Kharar and senior leader Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Councillors Kamaljit Singh Banni, Suchha Singh Kalaud, Gurcharan Singh Bhamra, Gursahib Singh, Jagdish Singh Jagga, Nachattar Singh, Lakhbir Singh, Navjot Singh Bachhal, Block President Pradeep Singh Tangori, Balbir Singh (Sector 67), Mandal Presidents Pradeep Soni, Gurmej Singh, Ashok Kondal, and others including Rajinder Singh Dharamgarh, Hardiyal Chand Badbar, Surinder Rajput (former Councillor), Jaspal Singh Tiwana, Prakash Chand, Paramjit Singh Chauhan, Balbir Singh (Phase-5), Jatinder Singh Sodhi, Karamjit Singh Sidhu, Dr. Bajwa (Shahi Majra), Narinder Kumar (Phase-6), DP Sharma, Gurwinder Gogi, Malkiyat Singh Motor, Kulwinder Singh, Romi, and Narendra Kaushal.
