All information regarding elections will be available from ECINET app; it will also be convenient for election officials

In a major initiative, the Election Commission of India is developing a new digital app for voters and its other stakeholders such as election officials, political parties and common citizens. The new one-stop platform ECINET will replace over 40 existing mobile and web applications of the Election Commission.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C said that ECInet will provide a single platform for all election related activities. It will provide an elegant user interface and a simple user experience. This step will provide convenience for the app users as users will get relief from the hassle of downloading and navigating multiple apps. Along with this, ECInet has also been designed to reduce the burden of remembering different logins.

This platform was envisioned by the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, during the Chief Electoral Officers’ Conference held in March 2025 in the presence of Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.

The ECInet app will enable users to access relevant election data via their desktops or smartphones. To ensure that the data is as accurate as possible, data on ECInet will be entered only by authorized Election Commission officials.

The entry by the concerned officer will ensure that the data made available to the stakeholders is as accurate as possible. However, in case of any conflict, the primary data correctly filled in the statutory forms will prevail.

ECINet will replace existing apps like Voter Helpline App, Voter Turnout App, CVigil, Suvidha 2.0, Saksham and KYC App.

The app has been downloaded more than 5.5 crore times. ECINet is expected to benefit about 100 crore voters and the entire election machinery including more than 10.5 lakh booth level officers across the country, about 15 lakh booth level agents appointed by political parties, about 45 lakh polling officers, 15,597 assistant electoral registration officers, 4,123 EROs and 767 district election officers.

ECINet has already reached an advanced stage of development and rigorous trials are being conducted to ensure smooth functionality, ease of use, and robust cybersecurity measures.

It is being developed after a detailed consultative exercise involving 36 CEOs, 767 DEOs of all States/UTs and 4,123 EROs of their States/UTs and after reviewing 76 publications containing 9,000 pages of electoral framework, instructions and handbooks issued by the Election Commission from time to time.

The data provided through ECInet will be strictly consistent within the legal framework established by the Representation of the People Act 1950, 1951, Registration of Elections Rules, 1960, Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961 and the directions issued by the Election Commission from time to time.
