In a significant step towards combating drug addiction and ensuring the rehabilitation of drug dependants, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Tuesday held a meeting with representatives of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Punjab. The discussions were focused on understanding the support structures provided by NA Punjab, a volunteer-led organization modeled after Alcoholics Anonymous, where former addicts help others overcome addiction and rebuild their lives anonymously.
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal stated that as part of its comprehensive strategy in the ‘War against Drugs’ started by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the district Administration will launch a holistic initiative that integrates sustainable livelihood opportunities with psychological and social support systems to ensure the complete reintegration of rehabilitated individuals into society. Recognizing the crucial role of community-based recovery programs, the administration will take services of Narcotics Anonymous Punjab and its Ludhiana Chapter as key partners in this mission.
Jorwal mentioned that the administration has rolled out an extensive awareness campaign to curb drug abuse and educate the public on rehabilitation and recovery resources. This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to creating a drug-free and rehabilitated society, ensuring long-term support for individuals on their path to recovery.
