Encounter in National Park area of Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, 12 Naxalites killed, 2 jawans also martyred

An encounter is going on in the National Park area of ​​Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, in which more than 12 Naxals have been killed so far. 2 jawans were martyred and 2 were injured during the encounter. An MI 17 helicopter has been sent from Jagdalpur to evacuate the injured from the spot. Panchayat elections are being held here, it is believed that Naxals can influence them. This encounter is going on between Naxals and DRG, STF and Bastar Fighter jawans. 

A large quantity of arms and explosives have been recovered from the encounter site. The slain Naxalites are being identified. The condition of two soldiers injured in the encounter is out of danger and they are being taken to a higher centre for better treatment. Along with this, additional forces have been sent to the encounter site so that the Naxalites cannot escape. The search operation is still going on in the area.

A senior police officer said the encounter began on Sunday morning in the forest of Indravati National Park area when a team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal operation. “According to initial information, 12 Naxals were killed in the encounter,” the police officer said.
