Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unknown persons in the case of Sahil Lochab, who was injured by a pellet gun during a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached the DCP office at Sansad Marg police station along with the injured Sahil Lochab and sat on a dharna for about seven hours demanding action. Rahul Gandhi said that registering an FIR is the first step towards justice. He claimed that pellets are still stuck in Sahil’s body and his eyesight has been affected due to the pellets stuck in his eye. Rahul said that it is a matter of serious concern for an Indian citizen and his family that it is taking so long to register an FIR. On the other hand, BJP termed Rahul Gandhi’s dharna as ‘cheap and chaotic politics’. Union Minister J.P. Nadda alleged that this protest is not for justice but an attempt to divert attention and political frustration of the Congress.
