Punjab Police arrests three Roadways employees with 55 grams of heroin

The police of the Special Cell of the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested three employees of Punjab Roadways and recovered heroin from them. Giving information in this regard, Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that when the Special Cell police were checking near the bus stand on the basis of a tip-off, they saw a person coming on foot from the passport office with a polythene envelope in his hand. The said person got scared after seeing the police party standing near him and threw the polythene envelope in his hand on the roadside and quickly turned back. He said that while taking action, the police party recovered Ajit Singh alias Raju, resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Makhu, Ferozepur Hall, resident of Mohalla Amargarh, Bashirpura, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar and 5 grams of heroin from the black polythene envelope thrown by him.
The Police Commissioner said that FIR No. 18 dated 31.01.2025 under Sections 21-61-85 of the NDPS Act, later Section 29 of the NDPS Act, Police Station Division No. 6 Jalandhar was registered against the accused. He said that during interrogation, he admitted that Ajit Singh alias Raju, Deepak Sharma resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Colony Jalandhar and Deepak Sharma, Kirat Singh resident of Sultanwind Police Station Doburji District Amritsar, posted as Inspector in Punjab Roadways Depot Jalandhar 2, were also involved in this heinous crime. Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that both the accused were arrested and 50 grams of heroin, 20 small empty plastic envelopes and 01 small electronic weighing machine were recovered from them. I told that the arrested accused are being interrogated.
