The Jammu to Srinagar Vande Bharat Express is an upcoming semi-high-speed rail service designed to enhance connectivity between these two major destinations in Jammu and Kashmir.
This train will run between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Srinagar, which will significantly reduce the travel time by road from the current 8-10 hours to just 3 hours.
The train is expected to begin operations in February 2025, following successful trials currently underway.
The launch of the Vande Bharat Express aims to boost tourism and provide a reliable travel option for both locals and tourists in the region.

The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express is a significant new train service connecting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra with Srinagar, marking the first semi-high-speed train for the Kashmir Valley.
The service is set to increase travel efficiency, reducing travel time to around 2.5 to 3 hours over a distance of around 150 km.
The train is expected to begin commercial operations in February 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to inaugurate it in the first week of the month.
The recent trial run has demonstrated the train’s capabilities, successfully covering the route and showcasing its advanced features designed for cold weather. The train will run on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) and is expected to halt at major stations like Reasi and Banihal.
