HC rejected all petitions, panchayat elections will be held in Punjab tomorrow
Punjab news,15 oct 2024
The way for Panchayat elections of Punjab has been paved. Voting for panchayat elections will be held in the state tomorrow. Punjab and Haryana High Court has rejected 700 petitions. Apart from this, the election process of around 250 panchayats, 16 of which were stayed by the High Court, has also been removed by the court. It should be said that the opposition parties are alleging that the nominations of people associated with them are being forcibly rejected. This matter has also reached the Election Commission.
In such a situation, it is clear that voting will be held there from 8 am tomorrow. After the election decision, CM Bhagwant Mann thanked the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Punjab Advocate General (AG) Gurminder Singh said that this is a big relief for the common people. Before this, many clouds were hovering over the elections. But now it is clear that there will be elections.
The hearing regarding Panchayat elections started in the High Court from this morning. Meanwhile, each petition was challenged on separate grounds. Advocate General of Punjab was present in the court with his team. Meanwhile, the election process of those panchayats, whose elections were blocked earlier, was stopped. A petition was also filed against him in the court. The decision in this regard was pronounced at quarter past four in the evening. Most of the petitions were from leaders and supporters associated with Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has written in his social media post that thanks to the honorable High Court… the way for Panchayat elections in Punjab has been cleared. Panchayat elections will be held in Punjab tomorrow on October 15. I appeal to all Punjabis to vote peacefully on October 15 while maintaining mutual brotherhood. Also elect good representatives of your villages who will contribute to the development of the villages. My greetings to all the candidates or members contesting the Sarpanch election.
